We had the great opportunity for a Q&A with Aaron Roworth, Contract Sales Manager of The Finishing Store & Millworks LTD., a retailer, wholesaler and custom manufacturer in the building industry. We are always eager to talk trim whenever we get the chance, and we were excited to get his insight on what’s currently on trend, his favorite Finishing Collection, and his thoughts on our recently crowned Every Room Tells A Story — 2017 Builder & Designer Challenge Grand Prize Winner, Jenny Martin.
A family-owned and operated company, specializing in home finishing, The Finishing Store and their team at Artistic Mouldings & Millwork have recently announced they have merged together to form The Finishing Store & Millsworks Ltd. Being a registered Metrie dealer, located in British Columbia, the company supplies mouldings, doors, mantels, flooring, stairs, and closets to the Vancouver Island area, including to our Builder & Designer Challenge winner, Jenny Martin Design.
The Finished Space: With Jenny Martin being a long-time customer of The Finishing Store & Millworks Ltd. and Metrie’s interior finishings for several years now, what was your reaction learning that she was our 2017 Builder & Designer Challenge Grand Prize Winner?
Aaron Roworth: I was super happy when I heard that Jenny Martin Design had won the grand prize. Jenny is a progressive designer with a team of talented people that consistently specify Metrie products. It’s an award well deserved.
TFS: How did The Finishing Store & Millworks Ltd. assist Jenny Martin with her trim selection?
AR: We let Jenny do the selecting, we try to support her by ensuring she has what she needs when she meets with her clients. If we can help her with visuals when meeting with her clients, then it allows the client to feel more comfortable with the selections.
As a Metrie dealer, The Finishing Store & Millworks Ltd. always provides assistance to customers and ensures excellent service is delivered, like in the case of Jenny Martin Design. Despite being humble, The Finishing Store & Millworks Ltd. is just as much of a winner in our eyes!
TFS: What does this sentiment mean to The Finishing Store & Millworks Ltd.?
AR: Being recognized alongside Jenny’s work is always an honor, however the focus should remain on the Jenny Martin Design team. We look forward to working closely with them again this year.
With extensive experience helping customers with their home renovation projects, The Finishing Store & Millworks Ltd.‘s goal is to bring custom designs to life with their motto being ‘Finish Like an Expert’. Their aim is to provide their customers, architects and designers interior finishings and products that best suit their lifestyle.
TFS: What design trends are you noticing right now in the Vancouver Island area?
AR: Currently the design trend seems to be straight, clean lines with minimal detail. Flat stock is in high demand with Metrie’s Collections such as Very Square and True Craft profiles adding some variation.
While Jenny Martin’s space incorporates various interior finishings from our Fashion Forward Collection, Aaron has noted he is keen on the simple, yet classic contemporary architectural style of Very Square. Let us know your favorite Finishing Collection in the comments below or on Twitter!
