We know how much designers love moodboards, so we’re bringing you our favorite 2016 Builder & Designer Challenge room entries reimagined as moodboards and Pinterest boards all throughout the year.
We’re kicking off our monthly moodboards with our 2016 Builder & Designer Challenge Grand Prize winner, Calista Munnell, of Calista Interiors.
Calista absolutely blew us away with her ‘Light Filled Cape Code’ project. Her design, an airy and contemporary Cape Cod style home, featured our Very Square Finishing Collection which helped to create a clean, bright room perfect for hosting guests and spending long mornings drinking coffee with friends.
Her room inspired us to create a moodboard so we could really break down her beautiful design and the gorgeous interior finishings included in the space.
Our moodboard, showcases neutrals colors, natural materials and lots of bright light. A coastal style paired with a neutral palette, pops of natural greenery (instead of the typical bright blues) and contemporary millwork adds sophistication, so even landlocked homes can enjoy the warm, laid back style.
But wait, there’s more inspiration!
We took our inspiration one step further, and created a Pinterest board dedicated to this Natural Light & Neutrals decor moodboard.
Just like our moodboard, this Pinterest board is a celebration of big, bright spaces, neutral color palettes and Cape Cod decor. Not to mention a pin linking to those to-die-for lamps Calista used!
The Rooms that Inspired the Moodboard
Calista’s design touched the eat-in kitchen and living room, and both spaces are made even brighter by the natural light and Benjamin Moore’s Fossil, a creamy white with a wisp of green undertone.
With that neutral base, Calista had the perfect canvas to showcase pops of pastel blue and yellow. Pillows, coffee table trinkets and ginger jars on the built-ins brought in the fresh, coastal feel.
In the kitchen, Calista chose a transitional, clean look with white cabinets, stone counters and dining chairs. Pops of color in the room came from a pale blue glass backsplash and copper pendant lanterns.
For a showstopping piece, Calista chose a driftwood dining table. The driftwood accent matches the coastal feeling of the entire home while incorporating more natural materials.
Last but certainly not least, are the interior finishings! Calista selected the strong, crisp lines of the Metrie Very Square Collection as a foundation for this stunning space.
