Take a seat and just relax because we’ve got a show for you. This month’s moodboard comes to you courtesy of Decora Homes’s Old-Hollywood-inspired home theater. The designer hoped to transport visitors to another world with rich and vintage details when they walked into this space, and we have to say, they nailed it.
This 2017 Builder & Designer Challenge entry wowed us with its flair for the dramatic. Even if red leather sofas and velvet curtains aren’t what your clients are after, this room can inspire any space, theater seats not required. We’re peeling back the curtains on this inspiring, majestic design, so grab a bowl of popcorn and take a look to see what we mean.
Luxe textures and vivid colors are the stars of this show. We just love the pairing of deep chocolate (not to be mistaken for stark black) and scarlet red, because it’s bold enough to stand up to the drama on the big screen. Bronze accents on the walls, ceiling and in the decor keep the room from becoming too dark and add an extra dose of luxury.
The wall sconces and surrounding ceiling lighting make the home theater feel like the real thing. The columns frame both sconces and elegant panel moulding, and the curtains complete the old-theater feel and hide the wet bar. Watching movies in your own home is all about comfort and being able to lounge as you’d like. Decora Homes takes it to the next level with red chaise-lounges and faux-fur throws, so movie-goers can relax in style.
A home theater is never finished without trim and moulding. With all of this room’s rich details, it is the use of our Fashion Forward interior finishings that really make it grand. The bronze casing and architrave work together to perfectly finish the doorways. Once you’re inside, the chocolate-lacquered crown moulding and baseboard come together to create sophisticated columns. Decora Homes really thought of everything!
