Located just a few miles outside of Washington D.C, this new build is full of both luxury and character. We love a beautifully finished canvas, and this home by Classic Cottages, LLC. is just that. The straightforward, elegant design won us over last year, and it was in the Top 25 of our 2017 Builder & Designer Challenge.
This month’s moodboard, inspired by a modern, combined great room and kitchen, showcases classic pieces that exude a modest sophistication. Ready to be inspired?
The clean palette of grays and white, grounded by natural wood floors, caught our attention first. Then, we fell in love with the clean lines that make this space timeless. Very Square was the key to getting a clean, crisp look, and you can see the effects in the baseboard, crown moulding, architrave, and casing used throughout the room. Classic Cottages cleverly mimicked the same lines in the shaker cabinetry, linear hardware, and gridless windows.
As we learned in an interview last year with Classic Cottages, they are great room and ceiling masters. With natural light pouring in, minimal hanging fixtures, and sleek storage, this great room feels wide open and welcoming, and flows perfectly into the kitchen. The modern, simple look carries through the space, but the baseboard and architrave in both sides of the room are what really make the space cohesive.
We’d be lying if we didn’t say that we’ve been dreaming of what this place would look like fully decorated. We’re envisioning multiple seating areas with updated versions of classic furniture shapes in rich textures. Add in a couple rustic pieces in softer silhouettes to round-out the space without losing its identity, and we’d never want to leave!
The beauty of getting trimspiration from a space like this is that you can let your imagination take you in nearly any direction. Take a look at our curated Pinterest board inspired by this new home for some ideas, but don’t be afraid to make the space your own!
