Jennifer Ashley brings a fresh and electrifying design inspiration to our blog, and is the well-deserved week 5 winner from our #CaptionMetrieContest!

Cultivating a passion for design from her mother, Jennifer loves helping others discover what they want their dream home to look like.

Jennifer Ashley of Pretty Little Details chats interior finishings with The Finished Space.

“Thanks to her influence, I developed my own design aesthetic at a young age and eventually fell in love with French inspired architecture and design,” Jennifer shared. “Now, my main love is curating inspirations and sharing the process of decorating my own home through my blog, Pretty Little Details.”

Most designers know that a crucial aspect of making a room come to life is to give it feeling. Even if a client does not have a clear image of what they want their room to look like, designers can often decorate a room by putting together cohesive elements that embody a desired atmosphere.

Jennifer embraces this concept with her design philosophy that “every piece in a room should be something that makes you happy.” When a space is transformed, it should make an emotional impact on the client. After all, we’re all products of our environment, right?

“I believe it’s much better to wait to find decor pieces you truly love than to be stuck with decor that doesn’t speak to you,” explained Jennifer. “Knowing if you want a space that feels warm and inviting or a space that makes you feel refreshed and inspired will affect the design in more ways than just choosing a colour for the room.”

A combination of functionality and beauty are what inspires Jennifer to decorate her favorite type of room – home offices.

“It is often a space where people neglect style in exchange for practicality, but I believe an office can be both,” she offered.

And we couldn’t agree more! An office that reflects the design and comfort of the rest of your home is a place you’ll actually want to work in.

When it comes to her own personal style, Jennifer’s flare is best reflected in her bedroom decor, and we love the way she describes it:

“It has been a space that we haven’t rushed to finish and we have taken the time to find pieces we truly love, instead of just purchasing items to fill the space…Once finished, it will be a perfect marriage of classic French glamour mixed with a touch of bold femininity.”

If you weren’t already smiling with us, we asked Jennifer our infamous celebrity question and her answer simply royal.

“If I could design a space for any celebrity, it would be for Kate Middleton’s Kensington Palace home,” she said. “I love combining old and new elements together and their home is a perfect canvas. Kate’s personal style is of course impeccable, so I would love to design a space that reflects her sartorial choices.”

Thanks for sharing with us Jennifer, Kate would be lucky to have you as a designer! We loved getting to know your style and we hope you continue to inspire others.
