No. Metrie Complete is a pre-painted solution and the wax stick, caulking, and putty are color matched to the product. Simply apply the product within its application and apply the finishing kit solutions where needed.

No painting is required on the Metrie Complete Shiplap product. It is a pre-finished solution that is ready to be installed.

Use the wax stick to cover nail holes on the product. Ensure the wax stick is clean and at room temperature for best application. Rub the wax stick on the product at an angle, remove any excess with the leveling card, and use the buffing pad to smooth out the area. One pass is enough.

Use the caulking where products meet the drywall (not the floor or carpet) to create a seamless look. Using a utility knife, use the guidelines on the tip of the caulking tube to cut the tube open. Insert the tube into a Caulking gun (not provided). We recommend practicing on a piece of cardboard if you have never used a caulking gun before.

Yes. Although Metrie Complete is pre-painted, should you choose to change the color, you can! You will need to prepare the surface before painting by using a fine 120 grit sand paper followed by regular painting procedures.

One of the best qualities of Metrie Complete is that it is pre-painted with a durable, high-quality finish; making it super easy to wipe clean with a non-abrasive cleaning agent and clean cloth.

We always recommend installing into studs over drywall. Nailing the tongue of the shiplap into the studs behind the drywall will be enough to support the weight of the product. You can also nail into the bottom or the face of shiplap if you want the added security. Use our Metrie Complete Finishing Kit to cover up the additional nail holes.

Our shiplap is 1/2” thick which may not meet all building requirements if you want to install without drywall. If you don't already have drywall, you need to ensure the wall is flat prior to installing shiplap and that any gaps between panels are covered so you don’t see into the wall. Installing over drywall will also ensure that if you decide to change the wall in the future, you only need to pull down the shiplap.

Due to many variables including the size of the space being covered and the strength of your drywall, we suggest you secure each plank directly to the studs of your wall. If this is not an option, such as for a ceiling installation, you can attach the shiplap to wood furring strips of at least 1/2" thickness.

The boards will have 1/8" of space between them.

Installing above pre-existing baseboard is possible, it just requires extra planning! Our Metrie Complete® Shiplap is ½” thick, so we reccomend the top portion of your baseboard be at least ½” thick to avoid any noticeable gaps or appearance of a “sinking” baseboard. It is also important to measure the height of your wall and plan the number of shiplap boards you are planning to use to avoid leaving a large gap either above the baseboard or under the ceiling.

We recommend using our Metrie Complete® flat stock boards to cap the edge of the shiplap at the end of the wall. Depending on the size of the room/wall, you may choose a smaller/larger board. These boards can be slightly thicker than the shiplap to give a proper reveal.
